Fire Emblem: If (ファイアーエムブレム if Fire Emblem: If) is the second entry in Intelligent Systems' strategy RPG series developed specifically for the 3DS handheld. The title is expected to continue to draw upon gameplay series staples including grid based movement and ranges, player units all being unique characters with different classes including pegasi riders and myrmidons, and a weapon trinity. Adjacent player units can also support one another in during combat.
The setting of this Fire Emblem title looks be based on a world where two forces are at odds with one another, with one side inspired heavily by feudal Japanese military forces (Hoshido)and the other adopting a more traditional western fantasy theme (Nohr). This will likely factor into the reasons why both sides become locked in conflict.
he Nintendo Direct on 1 April, 2015 shows that the game's avatar, Kamui カムイ will have to pledge loyalty to either Hoshido or Nohr which will in trun affect how the story progresses.
Up until now, a few characters' names have been shown in the trailer:
- Kamui (カムイ)
- Kazahana (カザハナ)
- Hinoka (ヒノカ)
- Felicia (フェリシア)
- Rinka (リンカ)
