 The Ungagged
Gordin is an Altean archer who is captured by the forces of Gra. He is tied and gagged, and is left as a trap for Marth, the Gra forces believing that if they can trick Marth into killing one of his own men he will lose favor with the people of Altea. Marth happens upon him, as expected, but upon seeing that Gordin is gagged realizes that something is amiss. He unties Gordin, and Gordin explains the situation to Marth. Marth takes Gordin with him as an archer, and Gordin remains with Marth for the rest of the story.
 Strengths and Talents
Gordin, like Norne, comes in early on in the game, and is considered one of the game's best archers, although this is often debated. While Norne has a slightly better strength growth, and a much better speed growth, than Gordin, he has higher luck and defense growths. In all other respects the two have almost identical growths. It is possible to recruit both, but that necessitates killing off a superior character for a redundant purpose. Most people choose Norne, because archers do not need defense growths like those of Gordin to be successful. In the end, neither is really superior to the other; it just comes down to what you want in an archer. Some feel that the question is irrelevant anyways, as flying units can be destroyed just as easily with a tome, and long-distance hits are more easily achievable by ballisticians such as Beck and Jake.
