Hero

Heroes are the promoted class of mercenaries, boasting good stats all around. They were introduced in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Ken and have traditionally appeared in every game barring Fire Emblem Gaiden and Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu where they were dropped in favour of the Darkfighter and Forrest classes respectively.

In Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, this class was known as Mercenaries and were the promoted form of Fighters instead. In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, the Hero class was used exclusively by Greil. In Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, this class is exclusive to Ike and can promote to the Vanguard class.
