Hugh is an Ilian mage working as a mercenary in Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi, whom Roy hires after haggling his fee. He is described by his grandmother to be as kind-hearted as his Canas, although lacking in ability, showing inneptitude in Dark magic, prefering to use Anima magic, like his mother.

He was given a Nosferatu tome by his grandmother but is swindled out of it by Ray, whom incidentally is implied to be his nephew in Fire Emblem.
