Ballistician of Grust

Jake initially appears as an enemy character in Chapter 11, guarding the castle, and will join the party if Caeda talks to him after anyone visits Anna. This requires the use the Warp staff, as Caeda cannot get inside his range on her own (and she will be brought down with ease by Arrowspate). Regardless of the relationship he may have with Anna, Jake is a lady's man. Being on good terms with Anna, he knows of the Secret Shops spread across the land.

Ranged Specialist

The ballistician is a unique class. Instead of fighting in close quarters, Jake will be flinging various attacks from afar due to the 3-10 range of all his usable weapons. On top of this, these weapons all have different specialties and do not necessarily outclass each other.

Arrowspate deals super effective damage to fliers, though this is made null by Iote's Shield.

Thunderbolt deals magical damage and is super effective against other ballisticians.

Stonehoiste has low accuracy, but high power and number of uses.

Hoisteflamme is more or less the opposite; it has high accuracy and low power.

Pachyderm has power comparable to Stonehoiste and accuracy only slightly lower than Hoisteflamme. It will be his primary offensive weapon once obtained.

Since ballisticians do not generally confront other units, only Strength and Skill will have an effect on Jake's overall performance. This is convenient if he is to go in an online squad, as it will reserve stat charms for other team members. Because he attacks at such a range, players may have a difficult time tracking down Jake in fog of war, where he will meanwhile assist in dealing safe attacks.
