Mark is the player character in Fire Emblem, where he serves as a tactician in command of Lyn's and Eliwood's group. His name, gender, and affinity can be determined by the player.

Gameplay

Playable characters of the same affinity as Mark's will receive a Hit and Avoid boost equal to the number of stars below the player's ranking. In addition, all playable characters receive an Evade boost equal to the number of stars below the player's ranking.

The number of stars under the player's ranking is determined by how many chapters the player has cleared in Eliwood's or Hector's mode. For every 4 chapters cleared (including sidechapters), one tactician star is awarded to the player.

Contrary to popular belief, playable characters of the same affinity as Mark do not receive a boost to their growth rates.
