Paladins are promoted cavaliers who have "dedicated their lives to justice". In addition to Lances and Swords, some Paladins have learned how to wield Bows and Axes. In Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu and Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, female Paladins were the promoted forms of Troubadours. In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, as unpromoted cavalry only wielded one weapon type, they were given an option of one other weapon type to master upon promotion. In Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Paladins were split into 4 classes, Sword Paladins, Lance Paladins, Axe Paladins, and Bow Paladins, as the promoted form of each type of weapon knight.In Fire Emblem:Shadow Dragon, when the cavalry is promoted,the Paladin, keeps the cavalry's main weapon

FE1, FE2, FE3, FE4, FE5, FE6, FE7, FE8, FE9 FE11: None. Promotes from Cavalier. 
FE10: Gold Knight (Sword and Axe Paladins only) or Silver Knight (Lance and Bow Paladins only). 
      Promotes from Sword Knight, Lance Knight, Axe Knight, and Bow Knight.
