Valter as he appears in
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
|Game||Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones|
Valter, known as the "Moonstone", is an insane Wyvern Knight who wields a lance with unsurpassed skill and strength. During his past career as a Grado soldier, Emperor Vigarde stripped him of his rank for slaughtering innocents - but when the Emperor "changed", Valter's position was restored. He later stages a duel with Glen, the Sunstone for opposing him and ends up killing the other general. Valter then incites Cormag to seek revenge for his brother's death and throws the blame of Glen's death onto Eirika.
Valter used to be somewhat more decent and still sane man (though was not "a gentle lamb before" as Duessel puts it). During a skirmish with bandits, his lance broke and in desperation, Valter borrowed a cursed lance from General Duessel, which robbed him of his sanity.
Valter lusts after the beautiful and strong-willed Eirika, and one of his reasons to fight is his desire to capture her and make her his puppet bride; Riev points out, as he hears about it, that Valter is like an animal, not letting the human rules stop his darkest desires. He dies while ambushing Eirika at Jehanna Hall.
