'Ragnell as seen on Super Smash Brothers'

Ragnell is one of the two blessed swords of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn that is possessed by Ike. It's twin being Alondite, possessed by the Black Knight. Ragnell can be used as an ordinary sword or can also create a shockwave along the ground to attack enemies nearby. Ragnell appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl along with Ike.

Ragnell and Alondite are the sister swords of Begnion and were both used by Altina, the Beorc hero and also first empress of Begnion to defeat Yune during the flood. Ashera blessed the two swords to pull this off. The swords then become the nation's sacred treasures.

[edit] Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

In Path of Radiance, the Ragnell is first seen when the Black Knight requests a battle with Greil to settle whether or not pupil had succeeded master. The Black Knight, holding both Alondite and Ragnell, the twin sister swords of Begnion, offers the latter to Greil for a fair fight. Greil refuses the offer and insists on fighting with his axe. The Black Knight was unaware of Greil being crippled and defeats him with ease. When he later discovers Greil's severed tendons (a self inflicted act to cease himself from fighting), the Black Knight seeks out the closest thing to Greil's skill, his son, Ike.

[edit] Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Just before fleeing Begnion, Sanaki, the current empress, takes Ragnell in hopes of reaching Ike and having him lead an army to retake Begnion from the Senators. Sanaki, along with her Pegasus Knights, accomplish this. Ike uses the sacred sword to combat its sister, Alondite, and to defeat the Black Knight for good. Alondite then becomes a usable weapon for the first time.

In Brawl, it also has the ability to surround itself in flames.
